Hinstock Safer Roads Fund work

09 October 2024 Last updated at 12:36

Works have started this week to install new street lighting columns for the street lighting upgrade being undertaken as part of the DfT Safer Roads Fund package of works for Hinstock. The full works also include road safety countermeasures proposed in the DfT project, traffic calming, CIL-funded proposals to improve pedestrian safety at the zebra crossing location and measures influenced by our schools 20mph study. All of these proposals were shared with the public in a consultation exercise undertaken from 25 August to 22 September 2022.

Further works will complete the street lighting upgrade later in the month, along with two phases of carriageway maintenance works and footway works to connect Moat House Gardens with Damson Way, to be carried out over the October half term holiday (28 October to 1 November).

The works are being undertaken by our contractor Kier and by National Grid, with additional input from our signals contractor, Swarco. Completion of all works in the village, including new signing, is intended to be by the school Easter break in April 2025.
