Market Drayton Safer Roads Fund work

09 October 2024 Last updated at 12:48

As part of the Department for Transport-funded Safer Roads Fund scheme for the A529, several locations in Market Drayton have been identified for minor improvements to assist future safe use of the route for all road users. Works have now been programmed for two further locations.

Adderley Road zebra crossing

Carriageway maintenance works on Adderley Road extending from the Prospect Road mini-roundabout to the stone railway bridge have been planned to improve the approaches to the existing zebra crossing. Road markings will be reinstated.

The surfacing work to be carried out by Kier (our maintenance contractor) has been scheduled for 13 to 17 January 2025.

Smithfield Road/Longlands Lane mini-roundabout

Works to the mini roundabout on the A529 junction with Longlands Lane will involve installing kerbs and tactile paving to facilitate widening the footway and providing a more suitable crossing point for pedestrians on the Longlands Lane (northeast) arm. The layout of the mini-roundabout road markings will be adjusted to improve visibility to the northwest towards Smithfield Road.

The work, which is to be carried out by Kier, is scheduled for 25 to 29 November 2024.
