In July 2019, the Department for Transport published a Challenge Fund. The purpose of the fund is to enable local highway authorities in England to bid for major maintenance projects that are otherwise difficult to fund through the usual formula needs element allocations they receive from government. We've submitted a bid for funding in 2019 to 2020 and an expression of interest for funding in 2020 to 2021; we'll be publishing details of this bid on this page asap.
