- Ends: 5 July 2019
- Running: Night-time
- North Shropshire
Leg Street/Beatrice Street in Oswestry will be closed from 17 June to 5 July [2019] while Scottish Power upgrades parts of the low voltage electricity cable network, which has been in place since electricity was installed in Oswestry 70-80 years ago. The work will improve the quality of the electricity network and reduce the likelihood of loss of power during storms and periods of poor weather. The work will include a full road closure (Leg Street/Beatrice Street), suspension of parking bays and suspension of the one way system.
The roads will be closed on weekdays from 7.30am to 6.30pm, Saturdays from 9am to 5pm, and Sundays from 10am to 3.30pm. During these times access will be available for emergency vehicles or large deliveries.
Unfortunately the first set of disabled parking bays on Beatrice Street will not be available for the duration of the works as the excavations run through the middle of these.
During the closure, residents of Beatrice Street, Madog Place and Albert Place will be able to access their properties from the junction of King Street using the suspension of the one-way system managed by an on-site traffic marshal.
While the road is closed Wales and West will also be installing a new gas supply on Beatrice Street between 18 and 21 June on Beatrice Street. Asking the utility companies to work together will minimise further disruption at a later date.
