A different but better experience
Our daughter has gone back in Y1 and it has been amazing. Obviously smaller class sizes, quieter school, fewer transitions from staying in their bubble and non-uniform have all helped massively but understand that it can’t last.
But the other bit that I would love to keep is the flexibility. We have been dropping her off later so it’s less stressful in the mornings and have been keeping her off on a Friday for a recovery day - all possible because attendance isn’t compulsory.
The difference in her is immense, she wants to go in the morning and she’s coming out of school so calm and happy. She even tells us about her day. It’s made such a difference to our family life too. The thought of September feels me with absolute dread and I’m desperate to be able to keep some of the flexibility without having to worry about fines and the difficulties she has managing full-time education.
