Nannies and au pairs
A nanny is similar to a childminder, although they're usually responsible for the care of children in a child’s home. They work largely unsupervised and will be employed by a family on either a live-in or live-out basis. They can provide high quality, flexible childcare in the familiar surroundings of the family home.
Au pairs come from outside the UK for a limited amount of time to help families with childcare and other domestic duties.
The Shropshire Family Information Service has information about finding nannies and au pairs.
Nannies and au pairs don't have to register with Ofsted, and as such there are no external quality checks.
