Shifnal Neighbourhood Plan

Designation

An application by Shifnal Town Council to designate a neighbourhood plan area went out for public consultation from 16 April to 28 May 2014. The application was approved by Shropshire Council's Cabinet on 20 October 2014.

Submission

Shropshire Council received a submission of the draft Broseley Neighbourhood Plan and supporting documents from Broseley Town Council and consulted on these documents in accordance with Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, from 15 January 2016 to 26 February 2016.

Examination

In March 2016, John Parmiter FRICS FRSA MRTPI was appointed as the independent examiner for the plan. He assessed the plan to decide if it met the basic conditions and could proceed to a referendum with modifications.

Referendum

referendum was held 15 September 2016. The result was 93% in favour of Shropshire Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Shifnal to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area.

Adoption

At its Council meeting on 15 December 2016, Shropshire Council resolved to ‘make’ the Shifnal Neighbourhood Plan.

The ‘making’ of the Plan means the Plan is adopted and now forms part of the statutory development plan for the area.

The adopted plan can be viewed beneath the link and on request at Shropshire Council’s offices at Shirehall, Shrewsbury.
