Designation

An application by Adderley, Moreton Say and Norton in Hales Parish Councils to designate a neighbourhood plan area went out for public consultation from 24 September to 24 October 2018. The application was approved by Shropshire Council's Cabinet on 12 December 2018.

Consultation

The Adderley, Moreton in Say and Norton in Hales communities were consulted on the draft Neighbourhood Plan between 28 November 2022 to 9 January 2023.

Submission

Shropshire Council received a submission of the draft Three Parishes Neighbourhood Plan and supporting documents from Adderley, Moreton in Say and Norton in Hales Parish Councils on 10 October 2022 and consulted on these documents in accordance with Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, from 7 July to 1 September 2023.

Examination

In October 2023, Dr Louise Brooke-Smith, OBE, FRICS, MRTPI was appointed as the independent examiner for the plan.  She assessed the plan to decide if it met the basic conditions and could proceed to referendum with modifications. The amended plan went to Cabinet on 5 June 2024 and was approved to go forward to referendum.

Referendum

A referendum was held on 25 July 2024. The result was 94% in favour of Shropshire Council using the neighbourhood plan for the Three Parishes to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area.

Adoption

At its Council meeting on 26 September 2024, Shropshire Council resolved to ‘make’ the Three Parishes Neighbourhood Plan.

The ‘making’ of the Plan means the Plan is adopted and now forms part of the statutory development plan for the area.

The adopted plan can be viewed here and on request at Shropshire Council’s offices at Shirehall, Shrewsbury.
