Alleyways

Major changes are being made to four historic alleyways in the centre of Oswestry – bringing them to life and helping to regenerate the town making them interesting places to use. The project has been working with Environmental Associates along with input from community consultation to create a package of works that will enhance the alleyways.

Introducing new gateway features the alleyways will be brought back into the heart of the town making them destinations in their own right. The most striking of these gateway features is a clock which will be placed over Herbie Roberts Way, with detail around it reflecting iconography associated with the legend of St Oswald.

Meanwhile, the Cae Glas Park alleyway will be upgraded with a brand new gate and a living wall extending the greenery of the park.

The work has been made possible thanks to funding from Historic England and Oswestry Town Council. The alleyways of Clawdd Du and Star Passage will also be enhanced.

Work is on-going and is expected to be finished in late spring.
