The experimental road closure traffic order is to address concerns regarding pedestrian safety on King Street in Ludlow, and to support active travel to help the country emerge from the coronavirus crisis following the transport secretary's statement on coronavirus (Covid-19) on 9 May 2020. The road closure will enable the allocation of existing carriageway space for pedestrians assisting with safe distancing measures. The above provides improved road safety for all road users, and enhanced quality of life for the local community. It will be applied on an experimental basis for up to 18 months. |

THE SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL (KING STREET, LUDLOW) (EXPERIMENTAL PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES) ORDER 2020
On 19 June 2020 Shropshire Council made an experimental order to prohibit all motor vehicles from using King Street in Ludlow between 10am and 3pm every Friday and Saturday.
Exemptions to this restriction include:
- Any vehicle being used for police, fire and rescue authority, or ambulance purposes;
- Any vehicle being driven in accordance with a direction given by a police constable;
- Vehicles being used for building or repair work to this length of road, adjacent buildings, or utilities;
This order comes into effect on 26 June 2020 and will operate for a period of up to eighteen months. The council will consider in due course whether its provisions should continue in force indefinitely. Your views on this order, including whether or not it should be made permanent, are welcome.
