During preliminary works, traffic surveys were undertaken for a duration of one week to obtain the average vehicle speeds outside school sites at peak times.

Data gathered during this exercise, when considered with the site location and traffic characteristics, determined that an appropriate method of controlling and reducing vehicle speeds outside of the school facilities would be the installation of a 20mph speed limit that is active during school peak times.

It's yet to be determined which specific signs will be used, however a potential signage solution is shown on this page. As part of the wider scheme streetlighting levels will also be evaluated, with upgrades and vegetation clearance undertaken where necessary.
